Tie Hack Monument

The Tie Hack Monument is a 14-foot-tall statue that honors loggers who cut (“hacked”) railroad ties out of area forests. The railroad ties where floated down flumes and rivers for the Wyoming Tie and Timber Company. The monument was carved out of limestone and was erected in 1946 by the Wyoming Tie and Timber Company.

The monument is located about 18 miles west of Dubois, Wyoming right off U.S. highway 26. There is good signage for monument on the highway. There is a large parking area here. It is an easy climb up to the monument. In addition to viewing the monument, this location provides an excellent view of the Wind River as it snakes its way through the valley below; it is especially scenic in the Fall. There is also a small section of a flume here.
