Anthony Lakes Recreation Area consists of one primary area surrounding the quiet scenic Anthony Lake, with several other areas making part of the Recreation Area boundary.
The Anthony Lakes area sits at about 7100' and consists of a large day use area and campground situated around Anthony Lake, as well as the smaller adjacent Mud Lake Campground and nearby Grand Ronde Campground.
Anthony Lake Day Use area is based around the scenic lake which sits below a picturesque view of Gunsight Peak and the Elkhorn Mountains. Anthony Lake is open for fishing, boating in motorized and non-motorized craft, and has both short and long trails nearby. During the Summer, the lake is popular for swimming, as the bottom remains shallow near its banks. Covered and uncovered picnic areas sit amidst the trees. Through the campground are boat launches for paddle craft, as well as a single lane boat launch for motorized boats.
During the winter, the day use area may be snowed in or have limited or closed amenities.
Between the campgrounds, there is plenty of paved areas for cycling. Potable water spigots are located throughout the campground. As well as trailhead access to the Elkhorn Crest trails.
Some of the nicest parts of the day use area lay beyond the end of the paved road near the lake's west side.
Day use access is $4, payable at the entrance. There are several vault toilets throughout the recreation area.
The recreation day use area is open from 5am-10pm daily.
