Mount Pisgah Campground is at a prime location along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Located at milepost 408.8, it is conveniently close to the Pisgah Inn, restaurant, country store, and laundromat, and it is situated at the junction of trails leading to Frying Pan Lookout Tower in one direction and the summit of Mount Pisgah in the other. Also, the campground is within 10 miles of the Cradle of Forestry, Looking Glass Rock Overlook, and just over 10 miles from the popular Graveyard Fields hiking trail.

There are more than 150 sites here, about half of which are tent sites and half of which are van or RV. The difference between the two is really just the size of the parking, however. There are no water, electric, or sewer hookups. There is a dump station. Water spigots are dispersed throughout the campground, as are bathhouses with hot showers. In general the sites are small, but they offer good privacy among trees and laurel. A few require a short staircase leading from the car to the site, but ADA spots are available. The parking aprons are small as well; most sites only have room for one vehicle, and even those designed for RVs are often tight. Large trailers may have trouble finding a spot.

Some sites are reservation only, while others are set aside as first-come, first-served, but during the shoulder seasons (May 1 through May 20 and October 1 through October 20), all sites are first-come, first-served. The campground is closed from October 21 through April 30. The high elevation and mountain breezes on this ridgeline keep it cool and comfortable most of the year. There are few large trees here for shelter, however, so thunderstorms and high winds can be a risk, especially in spring and early summer.
