Poison Spider Bench Trail

The Poison Spider Bench Trail is a fairly short and easy hike that takes visitors to a fantastic viewpoint overlooking the Colorado River. The only downside to this trail is that it’s not single track, the trail follows an old 4x4 road that has since been closed to motorized and mechanized use.

Begin by parking at the Poison Spider Trailhead (be sure to check out the dinosaur tracks while there) and follow the Poison Spider 4x4 Road for a short distance to the east. Keep an eye out for vehicles as this is an active trail.

In 1/4 mile you’ll then turn left off the road at a signed junction. The hike then follows an old 4x4 road (don’t worry it’s closed to vehicles) the remainder of the way. The path climbs gently as it works its way toward the viewpoint and turnaround point. Along the way enjoy the views of the beautiful sandstone rock formations to the north and west.

The trail ends after losing a bit of elevation and arriving at the viewpoint. From this rocky outcropping you’ll have amazing views of the mighty Colorado River below. When satisfied, return the way you came back to the trailhead.
