Moose Point State Park

Located just off the scenic U.S. Route 1 along the Maine coastline, Moose Point State Park offers a peaceful place to have a picnic, walk trails, and take in panoramic views of Penobscot Bay.

The land was once a dairy farm that was then donated to the state as a park in 1952. The park was named for a rocky point that juts into the bay. There are three distinct hiking trails with a total distance of over 2 miles. One trail leads along the rocky shoreline to Moose Point with periodic views out to the bay. Another roams through the mixed deciduous and conifer woods and the other meanders through the grassy open area to the shore. The park is popular with visitors walking their dogs.

The park has toilet facilities that are open in the summer months and a pit toilet open that is open year round. Other amenities include a child’s playground area, picnic tables and grills, and a group picnic shelter.

Moose Point State park is a seasonal state park, and its gates are open from Memorial Day through October 1 for a fee. The gates are open daily from 9:00 a.m, until sunset during these months. During the offseason, people are still welcome to access the park by walking in from the gate. Please be aware that the toilet facilities will be closed.
