The Teton Range is unbelievably photogenic. There are many great locations to catch in full color during sunrise, sunset, or even at night under the stars. Oxbow Bend is a very convenient place to watch the sun set behind the range, the skies turn orange, and the reflections glow off of the Snake River in the foreground. Because this is such a convenient location, expect lots of people to join you for the show.

While the sunrise views may not be on par with Schwabacher's Landing or Mormon Row, it does represent an excellent place to look for moose, deer, bear, and many species of birds. Certainly bring a long lens for morning sessions.

Located just off of the main road, it also represents an interesting place to take night photos. The Milky Way is easily visible in the southern sky directly over the Snake River and the smaller foothills beyond. Plan to try on a clear, moonless night in the summer season for the best opportunity. A fast, wide-angle lens is a must.

The best viewing locations do require a bit of work. Walk down from the parking lot toward the bank along the trails through the grasses for the best shooting locations. A standard zoom lens will bring the distant mountain range a bit closer, or use a wide-angle lens to encompass more of the river and sky into the scene.

These are great sunset shots, Aaron! I've always gone there for the sunrise. Here are a few shots from last May.
