The park, located in Rock Island, Tennessee, is filled with some of the best waterfalls in the state. During your visit to Rock Island, you'll find plenty of activities to keep you busy. The area is well known for its whitewater kayaking and canoeing, as well as fishing. You'll find nine hiking trails, plenty of picnic spots, a swimming hole like no other beneath Great Falls, and plenty of places to explore.

If you're looking to spend multiple days in the park, Rock Island has 10 cozy cabins available for rent, two of which are pet friendly. Rock Island also has two campgrounds, one for tents only and an area for RVs. The tent-only campground is tucked away and cozy with no concerns for sounds from generators and more. The main campground with RV sites is spacious and offers a volleyball court, playground, and multiple bathhouses with restrooms and handicap accessibility.

Spending multiple days in the park is the best way to truly experience the area; there are many ways to enjoy your day inside of the park, and it offers you a base camp for exploring other areas nearby that don't have a campground. Within an hour from the campground you'll find Burgess Falls State Park, Lost Creek Falls, and Cummins Falls State Park.

Before your visit, check the park's website for information on events that are planned as well as the status of the gorge. At times the gorge is closed due to unsafe conditions. However, Rock Island State Park is a perfect destination with plenty of options year round.
