Devils Fork State Park

Devil's Fork State Park is a beautiful area on the southern point of Lake Jocassee near the border between South Carolina and North Carolina. The park remains the only public access point to the 7,500-acre Lake Jocassee, which boasts spectacularly clear, spring-fed waters and offers scuba diving and some of the best trout fishing in South Carolina. Some waterfalls and Double Springs Campground are only accessible by boat. There are four boat ramps in the park providing access to the lake. On-site kayak and canoe rentals are available as well as is the preferred method of exploring the waterfalls that are hidden in coves throughout the lake. Laurel Fork Falls is one such waterfall that would otherwise be an 8-mile hike with much less impressive views. 

During the spring, hikers can see the rare and beautiful white and yellow Oconee bell wildflower. One of the two hiking trails is even named after the flower. The "Oconee Bell Nature Trail" is an easy 1-mile loop that has the most abundant concentration of the endangered flower. The other trail in the park, Bear Cove Trail, is a 2.5-mile loop that takes you to some amazing lake views and a few areas for swimming. 

There are multiple camping areas in the park including tent and RV camping as well as a boat-in campground that only allows tents. The park also provides day use picnic areas and shelters with grills, a playground, a park store, and activities such as geocaching.
