Amazing doesn’t even begin to describe this magical place. Cummins Falls State Park was founded by the State of Tennessee in 2012. However, people have been venturing to this beautiful place since the 1800s. The Cummins State Park Waterfall is a hike like no other, one that shows the true beauty of Tennessee.

Starting from the trailhead, hike 0.4 mile to the Blackburn Fork River Trail Segway and go right. Here is the overlook of the falls. Continue down the Blackburn Fork River Trail for a half-mile to the Blackburn Fork River. Turn left and hike the Falls Route for 0.6 mile to the falls. The trail crosses water and intersects with other trails, so make sure to watch your footing. Bring swimming gear, as well, because there is a plenty of room for everyone to enjoy the swimming hole at the base of the Cummins State Park Waterfall. The waterfall’s height is whopping 75 feet with shelves to sit on amid the showers of the cascade. You might just come back with a different appreciation for Tennessee after this trip.

Cummins Falls State Park has several warnings to be aware of before venturing out. Wear water shoes, boots, or other stable walking gear. The trails are steep and water crossings can be knee-deep to access the waterfall. Bring waterproof items for electronics or leave them behind. Bring drinking water. During times of heavy rain it can be dangerous to go to the river, so check the Tennessee State Parks website for the park before venturing out.
