Five miles south from Nags Head Pier on Beach Road, Jeanette's Pier reaches 1,000 feet out into the ocean, the Outer Banks' longest pier! Originally constructed in 1939, the pier has always been a famous destination for fishermen and visitors alike, but one would not recognize it as the same pier from its early days. After being severely damaged by Hurricane Isabel in 2003, the pier and facilities were renovated. Now owned by the North Carolina Aquariums system, the pier serves as an educational center and a fishing pier, and it offers general beach access.
The pier's wide, even surface makes it very accessible to those in wheelchairs or with a disability. Mobi-Mats are available at the beach access as well. The sightseeing fee is $2.00 with additional costs for fishing. Free public parking and restrooms make this beach an easy choice for beachgoers. It is a beautiful, wide beach and a great place to see wildlife, such as pelicans or bottlenose dolphins. During certain times of the year, whales have even been seen from the end of the pier!
If you want to surf, learn about the ocean, fish, or sun-bathe, Jeanette's Pier has something for you.
