Loon Lake Lodge lies on the shore of the only recreational lake in Oregon's entire coast mountain range. Generally immune from the colder weather that affects the Oregon coast but a mere 20 miles from it, this area sees mild summer temperatures and clearer skies allowing for ideal conditions for water sports. This oasis is nestled amongst rugged, forested mountains just south of the Umpqua River and east of Reedsport, away from busy highways. From fishing to volleyball to a sandy beach, there are plenty of activities to delight any adventurer's interests.

Lodge

The lodge serves many various purposes. The gas station is just adjacent to the lodge. The lodge is also the check-in office for anyone staying in the RV resort, motel or cabins. It is a basic grocery and camp store, and you can also find the deli/cafe here. The deli is open for breakfast through dinner and includes a variety of meals such as waffles and sandwiches. Diners can choose to eat inside the lodge or on the back deck where a view of the lake down below can be enjoyed.

Motel

The motel lies just east of the lodge. Rooms are furnished with either two full- or one king-sized bed. All rooms include linens, a small refrigerator, microwave, a coffee pot and a satellite television. Each room has its own back patio with beautiful mountain view from atop the hill that the lodge resides on.

Tent Sites

There are four group campsites in the area. Three of which are near the lodge, and the fourth being on the lakeshore near the marina. Of the four group sites, number 46 - "The Point" is the recommended site. As the name indicates, this large site occupies a peninsula, complete with a private fishing dock on the south end of Loon Lake. Each group campsite has a portable toilet.

The rest of the tent sites are scattered throughout the area. The majority of them lie down the hill from the lodge along a loop road and are within walking distance of the lodge. None of these campsites have hookups, but some can allow RVs/trailers to back in. Recommended site number 71 sits at the top of the hill with substantial shade and space for an RV. This tenting area includes a private trail to a fishing dock.

The remaining three tent sites are steps away from the sandy swimming area and marina, just adjacent to the lakefront RV park area. All of these sites have substantial space and shade.

Premium Cabins

These two premium cabins are between the upper and lower marina RV sites and can sleep six to eight people. The two bedroom cottages (one with a full-sized bed and the other with a queen-sized bed) have a living room, a dining area, and a fully furnished kitchen with a full-size refrigerator, range, microwave, coffee pot and satellite television, a three-quarter bath, and linens.

Basic Cottage

There are two basic cottages in the upper marina area and, each sleeps two people in a studio that is furnished with a full-size futon. These cottages have a dining area and a fully furnished kitchen with a full-size refrigerator, range, microwave, coffee pot, satellite television, a three-quarter bath and linens.

Deluxe Cottage

The Deluxe Cottage can sleep four and is complete with a living room, including a full-size sofa bed. One bedroom with a king-size bed, dining area and a fully furnished kitchen with a full-size refrigerator, range, microwave, coffee pot, and satellite television, a three-quarter bath, and linens.

Deluxe Cabin

There are four deluxe cabins, each of which can sleep five, in the upper marina area. The deluxe cabins are furnished with a trundle bed which can be made up as a sofa, two twins or pushed together to sleep side-by-side. The bunk bed has a lower full bed and an upper twin, and there is also a three-quarter bath. The cabins have a dining area and a fully furnished kitchen with an under-counter refrigerator, stove top, microwave, coffee pot, satellite television, and linens.

They are furnished with a king-size bed, plus a large walk-in shower. All cabins include a dining area, under-counter refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, satellite television, and linens.

Yurts

There are a total of four yurts in the resort. The two recommended yurts (numbers 69A and 69B) sit just west of the lodge and are in a quiet, somewhat isolated site. These yurts are nestled among the trees and sleep four. They are furnished with a trundle bed and can be made up as a sofa, two twins or pushed together to sleep side-by-side and a twin bunk bed. With a counter top refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot and bed linens.

The other two yurts are in the upper marina area and sleep two people each. They are furnished with a queen-size bed, counter top refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, bed linens and a satellite television.

RV Sites

There are a total of 34 sites with RV hookups between the upper marina and lower marina (lakefront) areas of the resort. Of these sites, the recommended sites are number seven, which has a substantial amount of space and is just adjacent to the marina.

Marina

The marina will likely be the hub for the majority of your activities. A sandy volleyball court sits just on the shore adjacent from it. There is a "Snack Shack" where you can, indeed, purchase snacks such as ice cream and soft drinks. This also serves as the rental office for reserved watercrafts including kayaks, canoes, stand-up paddleboards, pedal boats, an aluminum fishing boat, and even a ski boat and personal watercrafts. Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs) and paddles are included with your rentals and ski boat accessories/devices can also be rented. Be sure to make prior arrangements. Those traveling with their own boats can make reservations to moor their boat in a slip during their stay.

The marina also allows fishing from its dock. Typical fish found here are largemouth bass and trout. The dock is large enough to accommodate picnicking at one of its large tables. The boat launch is just next to the marina, and a fee of $5 each is charged to launch your vessel.

Sandy Beach Swim Area

The buoyed swim area is ideal for children and adults interested in swimming or simply sunbathing on the beach.

Other attractions in the area include nearby Loony's Lakeview Trail and the Loon Lake Waterfall Trail. If you're interested in paddling, swimming, and fishing on the lake, be sure to check out the Loon Lake adventure in addition to the BLM East Shore Loon Lake Recreation Site.
