The Loon Lake East Shore Recreation Site, operated by the Bureau of Land Management, is a small, quiet lakeshore park to enjoy a variety of activities on Loon Lake. It is a picturesque shore made up of alder and Douglas fir trees that swoon over the water, creating quite a scenic place, indeed.
A small parking area is just across the road from the day use lakeshore. A set of stairs allows access to a small grassy area with a couple of picnic tables, an old concrete fishing dock, a small beach, and a solitary buoy marking the swim area. The inviting, mild water beckons the swimmer to wade out via the small beach.
For the anglers, the Oregon Department of Fish + Wildlife typically stocks the lake twice annually with bass and trout.
The nearby Loon Lake Lodge and RV Resort is a perfect spot to stop for a bite to eat at the end of your day. Their deli and general store are stocked with beer, ice, ice cream, and various snacks and beverages. You can also extend your stay overnight in any of their yurts, cabins, campsites, RV sites (with full hook-up), or at their Waterfront House. Boat rentals, including paddle boats, kayaks, canoes, stand-up paddle boards, and Sea-Doo personal watercrafts are also available at the marina.
