Indian Creek Campground

One of the mid-sized campgrounds in Yellowstone National Park and also one of the five managed by the National Park Service (instead of the park lodging concessionaire), Indian Creek is set in a beautiful setting up on the plateau south of Mammoth Hot Springs.

The sites are set along two loop roads with reasonable distance between sites. Vault toilets and drinking water complete the picture of a typical older campground. While there are some larger pull-through campsites that could accommodate a larger RV, the park service has restricted this campground to a total vehicle length (trailer and tow vehicle) of 35 feet. Generators are not allowed at any time, making this a peaceful and quiet campground and great for tent campers.

Indian Creek is a 20-minute drive from Mammoth Hot Springs and a 30-minute drive from Norris. It is not near any of the major attractions of Yellowstone, but it is in a gorgeous area with lots of hiking nearby and makes a great low-key base to explore the park.

Indian Creek is typically open from mid-June to mid-September.
