The Daphne Inlet provides an easily accessible paddle option right near the famous Butchart Gardens. While most people heading up to the Victoria area go for the urban attractions and the garden, there are certainly exceptional active-water destinations like this that should be worked into your itinerary.
The Daphne Inlet is just on the north side the of Butchart Gardens. To reach the destination, simply paddle over from Brentwood Bay. The round trip can be completed in just about an hour, and this paddle route can also be easily combined with other nearby paddles such as the Tod Inlet, Willis Point and Senanus Island.
The route is full of wildlife, so you may want to consider bringing a pair of binoculars. Keep an eye out for bald eagles, otters (with babies), sea lions, an uncountable number of jellyfish, and a broad range of birds.
If you're making the trip to the area and traveling light, it's quick and easy to rent high-quality kayaks and stand-up paddleboards right at Brentwood Bay. No need to pack the life jackets and paddles.
