On Saturday, June 24, Outdoor Project hosted our inaugural Vancouver Block Party at Deep Cove Brewers and Distillers. After a long winter in British Columbia filled with a few too many rainy days, we were happy to have the sun shining down. With over 1,000 people coming through the party, there was no doubt summer has finally hit the Northwest!
Thirteen vendors attended the block party and engaged with the Vancouver community in an authentic way, enjoying the ability to connect with the community as well as share their culture. The vendors brought the party! Axewood was there with their axe throwing competitions, and The Hive climbing gym was there with their bouldering wall. The excitement didn't end there; Expedition Old Growth was sharing the experience of climbing 200 feet up into an old-growth tree with their virtual reality headsets, RYU was there with a kettle bell challenge, and Arc'teryx had a challenge seeing who could correctly set up their harness the quickest. This event brings together such an amazing community, and the vendors hosted plenty of games and challenges that kept the energy high and the laughter roaring throughout the day. Thanks so much to the following sponsors:
Arc'teryx, The Hive, Mount Seymor Lions Club, Expedition Old Growth, RYU, Wellmen, Treeline WOC, MEC, North Shore News, EVO Car Share, Journey Man Lodge, Escape Adventures, Life Space Gardens, Musos, Adventure Smart, and Love BC.
The dance party continued all day. Dave Hartley kicked off the show, Olin Brix followed up, and Terrance Jacks ended the day. Huge shout out to Musos Entertainment for being our generous music sponsor.
The best part of the day: As a community, we raised over $7,000 for North Shore Rescue!
Proceeds from our Stanley pint cup sales went to North Shore Rescue along with proceeds from Axewoods axe throwing competition, a percentage of beer sales from Deep Cove Brewers, raffle ticket sales, and the wonderful silent auction hosted by North Shore Rescue. Thank you to everyone for the support toward North Shore Rescue. With your support they can continue to keep the mountains safe.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for the warm welcome at our inaugural North Vancouver block party. This event wouldn't be possible without our sponsors. We are looking forward to continuing this party across the West this summer. Look for us in Denver, Seattle, Bend, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, and L.A. this summer.
