Sans Souci (meaning without worries) Beach, also known as Kaimana Beach, is the final segment of beaches in Waikīkī, located just past the War Memorial Natatorium and before Diamond Head Crater. This beach features beautiful white sand and is within walking distance of Waikīkī and the surrounding neighborhood. Crowds are less frequently encountered here, as it is a bit more removed from the main beaches in Waikiki, although the beach can be quite busy on weekends. Surfers can generally be seen out past the reef, while swimming and stand-up paddleboarding is more enjoyable in the relatively calm waters close to the shore.
The War Memorial Natatorium, built in 1927 as a saltwater swimming pool in honor of soldiers killed during World War I, marks the start of Kaimana Beach Park. This memorial has fallen into some disrepair, but during its peak was the site of the Keo Nakama Invitational swim meet, one of Hawai'i's longest running swimming competitions. The event drew thousands of spectators from around the world.
The beach has a lifeguard tower, restrooms, showers and concessions along the coastline. Metered street parking is available on Kalakaua Avenue. However, parking can be limited, especially on weekends. The beach is within walking distance of Waikīkī's most popular hotels and resorts, which is a plus for visitors staying nearby.
