With Memorial Day Weekend just around the corner, it’s time to start getting excited for summer, and more importantly, warm weather adventures. When this time of year rolls around, it’s almost guaranteed you will be craving the feeling on sun on your skin while paddling, mountain biking, hiking, trail running…or all the above. This was a crazy winter for most places out west, so get ready to soak up those Memorial Day Weekend vibes.
It’s not too late to plan a quick three-day trip over Memorial Day weekend, especially if you are someone who likes to get off the beaten path. Luckily for those of us who haven’t gotten around to making plans, there is plenty of room out West for adventures of your choosing.
You can even travel to some of the more popular destinations, like Lake Tahoe, if you don’t mind being a little flexible with your plans or forking over the premium price for some of the accommodation options. Your other option is to get out into the woods and away from the crowds in some of the lesser known locations out West.
Here are a few quick trips worth looking into for Memorial Day.
Go somewhere unexpected:
There are plenty of yet-to-be discovered gems all over the country, and chances are there are some right in your own backyard. The great thing about life out West is that you have natural beauty right at your fingertips, so try out some of these adventures closer to urban areas.
If you have the means to get way out there in nature, it might be worth it. Some of these longer hikes might not be for everyone, but that's the point.
Have a typical thee-day weekend, but don't stress about the crowds:
Yes, these places are nicer when you have them all to yourself and visit in the off season, but if this is your only chance to make it to one of these awesome destinations, go for it. The impressive natural scenery and adventures will still be worth braving the crowds. Just don't let other people get in the way of you having a great time.
