Red Cliffs Campground

Red Cliffs Campground is one of the great campgrounds of the St. George area. This 11-site BLM campground has some truly stunning scenery in every direction. There are a plethora of activities that are available right from camp: Multiple hikes start directly from the grounds, there are rock climbing and rappelling opportunities, nearby historical sites from both the Native Americans and the pioneers, and dinosaur tracks that are accessible via a short hike. Located within the Red Cliffs National Conservation Area, the campground is very close to the freeway but still feels pretty secluded. No reservations are available, so this is a first-come, first-served location. The Anasazi Trail and the Red Reef  East Trail are the most popular hikes from this area. Most people only take the Red Reef Trail to the "Moki Steps," and this segment is commonly referred to as the Red Cliffs Nature Trail. Dogs are allowed if they are kept on a 6-foot leash, and two of the sites are ADA accessible.

There is ample parking for day use, and the fee is $5 per car. It is $15 to camp overnight. Be careful for incredibly hot temperatures in the summer; the spring and fall are really the best times to be here. Note that there are two small tunnels under the freeway that you must pass through when driving in, and anything larger than an SUV will not be able to enter the area.
