Blue Lake Creek Campground is in a section of Gifford Pinchot National Forest that caters to off-highway vehicle recreation, but there are also hiking trails that leave from the campground along the Cispus River and up to Blue Lake. The campground itself is well shaded with large campsites. Unfortunately, the sense of wilderness camping is diminished by the campground's proximity to the road and passing vehicle traffic, which is generally the case with campgrounds in areas reserved for OHV recreation.

The North Fork Campground, which is larger but more secluded from the road, is just 4.4 miles further to the west on Forest Road 23.

Note: Blue Lake Creek Campground is open May 23 through September 15 for reservations and open to walk-in visitors through September 22nd.
