Lower Table Rock Hike

The volcanic plateaus of Lower Table Rock and Upper Table Rock are some of the most popular hiking locations in the Rogue River Valley, attracting more than 45,000 visitors annually. The rocks are home to more than 340 species of plants—including over 200 species of wildflowers—and 70 animal species. A springtime hike is the best time to visit this location if you are looking to see a wildflower display. Also, to protect the abundant wildlife, dogs, horses, fires and picking flowers are banned at Lower Table Rock.

The Lower Table Rock cliffs rise nearly 800 feet, and from the plateau's elevation of approximately 2,000 feet you will gain panoramic views across the Rogue River to the Siskiyou and Cascade mountain ranges. The 125-foot thick andesite rims of the U-shaped Lower Table Rock mesa have kept it intact over time, even as erosion has worn down much of the surrounding Rogue River Valley.
