Fallen Leaf Lake Campground

The Forest Service campground at Fallen Leaf Lake is one of the best places to camp in the south Lake Tahoe area. Even though it is old and shows its age in the potholes and broken site pad pavement throughout the site, this is a marvelous campground for tent campers and RVs. Fallen Leaf Lake is a marvelous place to swim, fish, kayak or paddle, and it is just a short walk from the campsites at the south edge of the campground. Within a 20-minute drive are trailheads for the very popular Desolation Wilderness, many Lake Tahoe beaches and scenic sites, the city of South Lake Tahoe with it's amenities and Nevada-side casinos, and much more.

The campground itself is spread across numerous one-way loop roads that circle mixed forest and meadows. Many sites have meadow views, and some are located along Taylor Creek. There are full restrooms, showers, a camp store and an amphitheater. Some sites have very long pull-through driveways for any size RVs and lots of room for tents. This popular campground opens in mid-May and closes mid-October, and reservations are a must.
