Slocum Creek Campground

Wake up to the song of western meadowlark in this beautiful little free campground nestled in the heart of the Leslie Gulch. Surrounded by castle-like rock spires and silky, grass-covered, rolling hills, Slocum Creek Campground is within a couple of miles from several hikes in the Leslie Gulch area, and about a half mile from a boat ramp that accesses the Owyhee Reservoir and as an alternate take-out for float trips down the Owyhee River.

All sites feature fire pits and tables, and 11 out of the 13 sites have shade and rain shelters. This is a free, first-come, first-served campground, which could be a problem if you can't find a site given the remote location. Dispersed camping is allowed to the east of the Leslie Gulch area. There is no potable water available at this campground, so come prepared with plenty of water for your stay.

Note that while the entire route to Slocum Creek Campground is usually passible by normal passenger cars under dry conditions, even a small amount of precipitation can render the roads in the Leslie Gulch area nearly impassable.
