Primarily used as a day use area, Maple Bay is only open for overnight camping once Delta Grove and Entrance Bay have filled up. There’s plenty of parking, an amphitheater, potable water, picnic tables, a boat launch and a calm, designated swimming hole with a nice sandy beach for people staying nearby. The open season is typically open from April 1 through October 10.
If you find yourself wishing you had a watercraft with which to enjoy the lake, the town just down the way rents boats, stand-up paddleboards, and canoes. The fishing in the lake entices fishermen from near and far who flock to get a chance to hook trout, Dolly Varden, and five different types of salmon. Trolling and fly fishing have proven to be the most effective methods. Before you go fishing, though, be sure you have a British Columbia Freshwater Fishing Permit, which is also available in town.
Entertaining little ones? Enjoy miniature golf, stables, bumper boats, and a popular waterpark in town as well as the park's hiking trails like the one that leads to the Giant Douglas Fir—an 800 year-old behemoth, and the oldest tree in the park. Maple Bay Campground is situated just west of Entrance Bay Day Use Area + Swim Beach, which has a nice, expansive grassy open space peppered with picnic tables all centered around a playground and a calm, designated swimming area akin to the one found at Maple Bay.
