San Antonio Falls is a series of year-round 20- to 30-foot cascades not far below the headwaters of San Antonio Creek. The 0.7-mile trail leading to the falls climbs about 250 feet up a paved access road to several cabins that lie along the way. From a viewpoint along the road a short dirt path leads the final distance to the falls. And though this path is level, parts of it are very easy to slip and lose traction on, so this may not be the best path for small children.
The pools created near the bottom are a popular place to find people taking a quick dip or standing in during the summer. In the spring, snowmelt causes the falls to be significantly more powerful, not to mention cold.
For those very confident in their scrambling abilities, it is possible to climb the rocks immediately to the left of the falls to reach a couple of other falls slightly further up, though be wary of the small footholds and loose overhanging boulders.
High above, Baldy Bowl is visible, just below the peak of the mountain.
Adventure Passes are available at the Mount Baldy Visitor Center (909. 982.2829), though the visitor center seems to keep extremely unreliable and sporadic hours. Mount Baldy Trout Pools, located about a quarter-mile up the hill from the visitor center, also sells Adventure Passes.
Aside from a bar, there are next to no services in Mount Baldy Village. Make sure you pick up all of your supplies before leaving the metro area and heading up the hill.
