Dutch Hill Campground

Dutch Hill is one of the two campgrounds located in Steamboat Lake State Park and is located near the Marina. Sunrise Vista Campground is just a short quarter-mile walk away. Steamboat Lake State Park is located at 8,000 feet in the Willow Creek Valley just 30 miles north of Steamboat Springs. 

The campground offers a total of 72 sites including a mix of electric, non-electric, and walk-in only sites. You'll also find 10 cozy 12-foot by 12-foot cabins available. The Wheeler Loop is home to 37 electric sites that are available for $26 per night. Across the bridge you'll find 15 Big Island standard sites and 20 walk-in tent sites available for $20 per night. All the sites in the campground provide level parking areas, a picnic table, fire pit and a 14-foot by 14-foot tent pad. All tents must be setup on the high-use tent pads to ensure the surrounding flora is not disturbed. Coin-operated showers, laundry facilities, and dump station facilities are available at the marina. 

The camping cabins sleep 4 to 6 people and are available for $90. They each have an electric heater, beds with mattresses, a small refrigerator, a coffee pot, and an outdoor picnic table and fire pit. In the summer you can drive right to the cabins. In the winter they are walk-in with a maximum distance of 100 yards. Be sure to bring all of your bedding and other camping necessities. Cabin reservations can be made year-round through the marina. 

Reservations are available from Memorial Day weekend through mid-September, and you should make your reservations early due to the popularity of the park. The campground is open year round with prices dropping October 1 through April 30, but all sites are first-come, first-served. In addition, there are 14 electric sites available in the marina parking lot during the winter. 

Camping in Steamboat Lake State Park is a great way to enjoy the area's recreational offerings. Whether you're looking to spend a day playing on the lake, camping in the wildflowers and under the stars, or fishing for trout, you won't be disappointed with a visit to the park. 

While spending time at the park, keep your eyes to the sky as there are over 200 species of migratory and resident birds including red-winged blackbird, downy woodpeckers, western bluebird, great blue heron, western screech owl, osprey, and northern harrier. Other wildlife that's been known to pass through the park include mule deer, red fox, and the occasional black bear.
