Yampa River, D-Hole

Located just below the 13th street bridge, Yampa River's D-Hole is a great play wave and swimming spot. Though it's smaller than its up-river neighbor, Charlie's Hole, this little swimming area has a lot to offer freestyling kayakers in the spring and lazy tubers in the summer. 

The Yampa River Basin includes 250 river miles and approximately 1,798 square miles. The Yampa River's highest flow ever recorded was 33,200 cubic feet per second at Dinosaur National Monument in 1984. The peak flow of the river in Steamboat Springs is in the spring and normally somewhere between 2,000 and 6,000 cfs depending on the snow levels that year. 

Explore more of the Yampa River on the Yampa River Core Trail that runs through Steamboat Springs. If you'd like to tube the river, rental tubing is allowed downstream from the 5th street bridge. Private tubers are encouraged to float from Fetcher Park leaving the upper river available for fishing.
