Perhaps no place is better suited to year-round camping than the coastal stretch extending from Big Sur in the south to the Oregon border, where hundreds upon hundreds of miles of coastline, accessed by scenic and slower-paced Highway 1, offer campgrounds situated amongst old-growth forest, dramatic coastal mountains, secluded beaches, tidal rivers and countless trails leading off to explore the unknown. With mild temperatures and year-round open campgrounds, it's always an ideal time to go camping along the California coast.

California's coastal camping options are nearly limitless. To get you started, below are a handful of destinations to add to your all-season camping list. So go get cozy around a campfire and enjoy the outdoors any time of the year.

Your article "Camping in Northern California" strongly suggests that whoever wrote this article doesn't understand the basic differences between Northern California, Central California & Southern California. The campgrounds you have listed in this article are nowhere near "Northern California" & if you think they are, what are they north of? Limekiln, Kirk Creek, Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park, Plaskett Creek campgrounds are all in CENTRAL CALIFORNIA.

To the author: your high school geography teacher would be so disappointed in you!
