Honey Hollow Falls

Honey Hollow Falls is a roadside waterfall far from the beaten path. Even in the heat of the summer, it's not likely many people will be here. The falls drop about 50 feet over several drops and pools. This steep cascading section lasts a few hundred yards. Above and below the falls the river is flat, shallow, and cobbly, but the falls themselves have carved out many deep pools that are great for wading and swimming.

Despite some trash at the pull off, the river is remarkably clean and clear, especially in the summer and fall when the water is low. In the early spring and after heavy rains the water can become turbid and dangerous, so use good judgment when navigating the slippery gorge walls surrounding the falls. The polished bedrock is incredibly slick even when it is dry, so use caution. The water is always quite cold, but its emerald green color and natural pools are hard to resist.

Park at the pull off and follow the herd path away from the road toward the riverbed. There are several routes to the various pools. If the pull off is full, you can park at the Catamount Trail Trailhead on the Duxbury Road about a half mile across the bridge. A short hike up the trail will lead to the falls from the other side of the river.
