Twenty-seven different walk-in campsites make Wastahi Campground ideal if you are hiking the trails of Big Basin Redwoods State Park and you are searching for a few more amenities than the backcountry trail camps have to offer. If privacy is a big criteria for your camping experience, this is also a great spot to consider.

A centralized parking lot connects five different walk-in trails that hold five to six camp spaces each. Restrooms and showers are also accessible from the parking lot. Campsites have food boxes, picnic tables, and fire pits for your use. If hiking is on your agenda while at Big Basin, the Sequoia Trail leading to Sempervirens Falls intersects with this campsite also.

This campground, as well as the rest of Big Basin Redwoods State Park, is “Crumb Clean,” meaning they encourage tidy and responsible camping. This area is a natural habitat for the endagered marbled murrelet, and leftover food scraps tend to attract jays and ravens that eat the eggs and kill the young murrelet chicks.
