Located just south of Boise City, Sandy Point is an outstanding spot to lounge, soak, and explore the waters of the Boise River. The park is part of the Lucky Peak chain of parks, the name of which is derived from the iconic horseshoe shape of the Sandy Point Park. The park also marks the southern tip of the Boise River Greenbelt Trail, so it is easily accessible by bike as well.

The water at Sandy Point is shallow, so it is generally warmer than the flow downstream of the dam (near Discovery Park). The shallow depth also makes this an excellent and safe place for children to play. A prominent feature is the "mushroom fountain" in the middle of the eastern tip of the water. The area around the fountain is surprisingly shallow and accessible for anyone looking for a fun way to soak. Free life jackets are available for those who need them.

The park itself is surrounded by the water and takes up the southern point of land. The park features a sandy beach along the entire length of waterfront, which is separated from the grassy tree-covered park by the Greenbelt path. Volleyball courts, shelters, showers, changing rooms, disc golf, and picnic areas with grills are available in the park.

The southwestern edge of the park is a little further from parking and tends to be slightly quieter as it is further from the activity of children enjoying the fountain area.

Note that no pets are allowed at Sandy Point Park.
