Sitting right in the heart of the Lower Crooked River Wild and Scenic stretch, Chimney Rock Campground is an excellent staging area for year-round desert canyon recreation. The Lower Crooked River was designated a Federal Wild and Scenic River in 1988 and features steep basalt canyon walls, a diverse array of wildlife (deer, river otter, antelope, beaver, waterfowl, etc), desert flora, and productive fly fishing. This 8-mile section of federally protected water displays a rugged beauty and 600-foot high basalt cliffs and unique rock formations carved away by the narrow Crooked River. Chimney Rock Campground is also adjacent to the Chimney Rock Trailhead. This trail is a 2.6-mile round-trip hike with expansive views of the Crooked River Canyon and nearby mountains.

Nearly all of the campground's 16 campsites (including the group site) are tucked right along the scenic Crooked River and offer picnic tables and fire pits. You'll find potable water and vault toilets here, and all sites are first-come, first-served. Chimney Rock Campground is open year round.
