Set on the eastern edge of Lake Cushman to the north and south of the Big Creek Inlet, Skokomish Park is a one of the premiere resources for campers, boaters, hikers, bikers, and day use visitors looking to enjoy a little time around this beautiful reservoir. From the beach you'll have fantastic views north toward Mount Washington and west onto the lake. This 500-acre park includes north and south campgrounds, substantial boat ramps, extensive hiker/biker trails, and this well-developed and accommodating day use area.
The designated swimming zone and beachfront in this day use area is extensive. Because this area is situated at the corner of the main lake and the Big Creek Inlet, the beach is generously sized and gets some natural protection from the wind. The shore here is gradually sloped and is ideal for younger swimmers and easy launches with paddleboards, canoes, or kayaks. Because Lake Cushman is a reservoir, be prepared for a shoreline that is exposed and a little rocky; bring a free-standing sun shelter for shade on the beach, and don't forget the sunscreen and foot protection.
You'll also find plenty of amenities to support your day on or in the water. Horseshoe pits, a volleyball court, and boat rentals will keep you entertained, and clean restrooms, picnic tables, and firepits are there when you need them. If you are out with a larger group, a large picnic shelter that includes a barbecue is available for reservation: call 360.877.5760. The boat launch that is accessible through the day use area has three paved ramps and substantial parking as well. Finally, a small store is located in the park for any last minute items that you may have forgotten.
