There are countless beaches and coves surrounding Lake Tahoe's crystal blue waters. They appear in all shapes in sizes. Many are owned by resorts and hotels, while others require hiking to access. Some, such as Secret Cove + Chimney Beach, are mostly known to locals. Along with other popular spots, such as Zephyr Beach and Sand Harbor, Kings Beach is one of the larger, constantly visited beaches on the lake. A great location for families, this beach offers 979 feet of beautiful golden sand and views of the entire lake, all right next to the town of Kings Beach.
Kings Beach became part of California State Parks in May, 2014. With 18 picnic tables, barbecue pits, a playground, a volleyball and basketball court, and rentals available for water sports, Kings Beach is perfect for those staying in the area. Eateries, pubs, souvenir shops and hotels are just across the road. However, this beach can get very crowded on weekends and holidays, so if you are looking for a bit more seclusion, consider alternatives such as Secret Cove + Chimney Beach. These lesser-known beaches are only a 20-minute drive and a short hike away.
