Warm people and world-class trout fishing draw anglers to the tiny Eastern Sierra town of Bridgeport. Fed by the East Walker River, Buckeye Creek, and Robinson Creek, the Bridgeport Reservoir provides both watersport recreation and irrigation water for agriculture in neighboring Lyon County.

Local fisheries stock brown, cutthroat, and rainbow trout that thrive in the cool mountain waters. Fly fishing is best in spring and fall when fish are near the shoreline. Bait fishing is preferable in summer months as fish head to deeper waters in the center of the lake.

Bridgeport Reservoir welcomes all types of watercraft, from kayaks to sailboats and motorboats. The recent drought has, however, affected water levels and launch sites. The privately owned marina and local sporting goods stores are the best resource for up to date reports on fishing and water levels.

A fish cleaning station and abundant day use picnic areas are located on the east bank of the reservoir, just off of Highway 182.
