The day hike section of the Icicle Ridge Trail is a very straightforward ascent to an overlook that affords views of nearby Leavenworth, the Wenatchee River, and Tumwater Canyon. The hike leaves from the valley floor and quickly leads upward through switchbacks and views that only improve the higher you climb. Much of the hike is exposed, which means the trail stays accessible and you can bet on a fantastic wildflower display in the spring. It also means intense sun by mid-summer, so be sure to carry water with you as you take on the 1,300-foot climb.

You'll reach the first flat area on the ridge after the first 2 miles, and this is a great spot to stop and enjoy the views. Continue down the trail for impressive views of Leavenworth and the golf course below. In the winter, Icicle Ridge is an ideal spot for views of the snow-capped Cascades that frame the Wenatchee River.

Note that this trail extends for a much longer segment to the Fourth of July Creek Trail. This longer version of the Icicle Ridge Trail is a difficult but popular mountain bike ride that usually begins on the Leavenworth end.
