Ainsworth State Park Campground

This campsite is in a very convenient location for exploring the Gorge - right near many falls and great hikes - Oneonta Gorge, Horsetail Falls, Munra Point, Cascade Locks, etc.
Unfortunately we didn't understand the wording on the park site and ended up booking a full hookup RV site as car campers with a tent! This proved tricky as there was only a small grassy space to pitch the tent. The only true "tent" sites they have are in the C loop, all others are a pull-in RV style.
The B loop also backs up directly to the historic highway with loud traffic and a very active railroad line that woke us up several times in the night.

A nice place for location, facilities, great for families, but probably not ideal for tent campers or people who want the calm & quiet of the deep woods.
