Turkey Bend Recreation Area Campground

Turkey Bend Recreation Area is a classic Texan landscape tucked away on the Colorado River between Marble Falls and Lago Vista. During the spring in late March and early April, the recreation area fills with bluebonnets, white poppies, and Indian paintbrush. With 29 sites on the shores of Lake Travis, the Turkey Bend Recreation Area Campground is an ideal staging point for Turkey Bend excursions.

Turkey Bend is a perfect spot to picnic for the day, pitch a tent for the weekend, and cast a line via the riverfront or to take out a kayak or canoe. The area, managed by the Lower Colorado River Authority, hosts 29 sites for tent camping that encircle a field of wildflowers and oak trees steps away from the river. The recreation area is 1,146 acres, and the campground includes tables, grills, a non-flushing restroom near the campsites, and a flushing restroom at the entrance.

Driving to Turkey Bend is a scenic cruise on East Farm To Market Road 1431, approximately 13 miles west of Lago Vista and roughly 19 miles east of Marble Falls. From 1431, the next turn will be Shaw Drive. The Turkey Bend entrance station will be 2 miles down Shaw Drive, where you'll be checked in by the park overseer during park hours, or asked to check in by leaving payment and car info in a dropbox.
