Rock Creek Vista Point

Rock Creek Vista Point provides a wonderful stop on the long journey through Beartooth Pass on their way to the Cook City and the northeast entrance of Yellowstone National Park. For most, this is the first true pullout point with plenty of parking spaces for vehicles. Most people stop here for the first time on this uphill journey to stretch their legs and use the bathrooms. Rock Creek Vista will provide your first taste of the forest views to come.

Although this spot can be busy on a nice day, there is plenty of space all around this area for different views in each direction. Positioned alongside the Beartooth Highway, Rock Creek Vista Point is a prominent feature along one of North America's most scenic drives. The lookout point sits at 9,190 feet above sea level, nearly 3,700 feet from Red Lodge, Montana, to which the highway leads. The highway will continue to climb roughly 2,000 feet until it reaches 10,947 feet at its highest point. Keep your eye out for herds of high-altitude bison and elk. Just remember, you are in bear country now.
