Econfina River State Park encompases over 4,500-acres along the Econfina River, which flows into the Gulf of Mexico.
Made up of largely untouched and undeveloped land, the park contains around 15 miles of multi-use trails open to equestrians, bicycles and hikers. Trails tend to be on flat, hard-packed dirt through pine flatwoods and palm-lined forest.
The main park area features a small picnic area, a few interpretive signs about the area's history, current wildlife that may be seen in the area including bald eagles and the Florida black bear, and a boat ramp offering access for boats and paddlecraft into the Econfina River. Salt marsh traces the river's edge as it heads over three dozen miles upstream.
There is a small ranger station that keeps very limited hours. Aside from these few amenities, there isn't much accessible in the park area.
The park is open daily from 8 a.m. until sunset. There is a $2 entry fee per vehicle. More information can be found at the park's website or by calling 850.487.7989.
