Crystal River Springs Preserve State Park is a 27,500-acre area of largely untouched and undeveloped land along Florida's Crystal River inlet area.
Primarily accessed through a couple of easily-accessible gravel roads, the park offers fishing and hiking areas, cycling trails, boat and kayak/canoe launches, picnic tables with grills, and a visitor center with interactive displays.
The scrub, pinewood, hardwood, mangrove islands throughout the park area provide a rich landscape for native and migratory bird and animal species. The waterway also provides habitat to manatees during the colder months.
Particular areas of interest inside the park are the visitor center area, where the canoe launch, picnic tables and a butterfly garden are located. The park also operates boat tours and sunset cruises from the visitor center area. Park rangers are typically onhand to offer information regarding the park's recreational options.
"Mullet Hole" is another area of interest, set at the edge of a freshwater pond popular for fishing, as well as being the site of one of the Crystal Cove Trail trailheads.
The park is open daily from 8 a.m. until sundown, and there is no fee to enter. Additional information can be found at the park's website or by calling 352.228.6028.
