The tradition of hiking in Park City goes right back to the days of its inception, long before recreational hiking was really a thing. Silver prospectors in the late 19th century trekked their way up the slopes to mine the mountain of its riches. These days we find our treasure on top of the hillsides rather than inside of them, and there’s no shortage of beautiful trails to explore the many alpine lakes scattered among the aspen and pine forests that cover the Wasatch and Uinta Mountains.

Summit County has an amazing mix of trails to choose from, ranging from quick after-work hikes near town and multi-day backpacking trips deep in the Uinta Mountains. Among the aspen and pine forests you'll find a wide array of wildflowers or perhaps a moose, deer, elk and marmot which are all common here.

Hiking in and around the town of Park City

Having a trailhead near your home, hotel or condo is a normal occurrence in Park City. If you’re located or staying in the Old Town and Main Street area, make sure to check out the Sweeny Trails or Jenni's Trail which both sit just above town. Take in some amazing views of the Uinta Mountains from the Silver Lake Trail in Deer Valley. The locals in the Prospector neighborhoods love to wander Lost Prospector before and after work. The Round Valley Trails help service people in the Park Meadows area, and Rob's Trail is great for those closer to Snyderville Basin. The Flying Dog Trail meanders around the beautiful Glenwild area near Kimball Junction or just a little further west is the 24-7 Trail, which is tucked into the Jeremy Ranch area. Of course, we can’t leave out the world famous Mid Mountain Trail, a massive and gorgeous trail that offers incredible views.

Please keep in mind many trails in Park City allow mountain bikers as well as hikers and runners, so make sure to always stay alert.

Hiking in the Uintas

To get some solitude and a break from bikers, the best solace lies in the western Uinta's along Mirror Lake Highway. This area is a sight to behold, a vast and undeveloped territory you can overlook from the Lofty Lakes Loop or up Bald Mountain. Take a quick hike to Ruth Lake and circle the lily pad-covered waters with the beautiful Hayden Peak in the background.

This is a great piece on Park City hiking! I want to try Wasach Crest (is that how you say it?) and some of these - https://resort.to/parkcityhikes next year after I've saved up enough to go back, but I'll definitely put these two on the list! Thnx!
