The Sawmill Trail takes a sharp turn off of the Bonneville Shoreline Trail at Big Willow Canyon in Draper. This accessible and challenging hike climbs up the foothills of the Wasatch Front and takes you to a crest at the point between Little and Big Willow Canyons. Neither Big Willow Canyon nor Little Willow Canyon have trails into their beautiful valleys; on the Sawmill Trail, you at least get great views of both from above. The views of Salt Lake Valley are incredible, and this is a great trail for catching the sunset. Ther are terrific colors in the fall and stunning bright greens in the late spring, and there are good wildflowers in early summer.

This is a good trail to bust out the hiking poles if you have any. There is loose rock and steep pitches on the way down. The full Sawmill Trail continues way up the canyon and eventually over to Bell's Canyon. No dogs are allowed on this trail. Parking can be found at the Hidden Valley parking lot near the church.
