Hermitage Point Backcountry Group Site

Along the southern end of the Hermitage Point Loop Trail is a single backcountry group camping spot right on the shores of Lake Jackson in Grand Teton National Park. Located about 4 miles deep into the trail, there are not many hikers at this point, so you can often get the area mostly to yourself. The southern peaks of the Tetons sit in the distance across the blue water, and many ducks, geese and birds of prey fly and swim around the lake. River otters are occasionally seen in the area as well. You can boat or hike into the area, and a sign on the shore lets you know where its located.

Two bear boxes are near the grated fire pit, and some logs are set up for seating. Do not bring more food than you need, and plan on eating everything. You must pack out solid human waste and all other trash. Permits can be purchased in person at the Colter Bay Marina campsite desk on the outside of the building. You can also book online for an additional $10 fee.

The views from here are fantastic, and so is the solitude. It is a group site, so you can have multiple tents and up to eight people.
