Beneath the snow, the beginning of the trail isn't immediately obvious. It starts about midway through the lodge parking lot behind an easy-to-miss marker.
Quickly cross a footbridge over Mammoth Creek. Beyond here, you are free to follow tracks around the lake or blaze your own trail through the trees.

You'll likely see tracks along the lakeside; however, you can head into the flat backcountry on the north side of the lake.

Make sure to stay off of Tamarack Lodge's private network of trails; however, their signs mark the direction back to the parking area.
