Parking and the trailhead are located at the Lake Mary Road winter closure.
Shortly onto the trail is the sign marking the Panorama Dome Summer Trail. Continue straight ahead here for an easier grade to the top.
Lake Mary Road climbs through dense forest toward vistas of the surrounding peaks.
A bus stop and road signs mark the intersection with Old Mammoth Road. A hairpin left turn here will put you on the ridge for Panorama Dome.

The top of Panorama Dome has 360-degree views, including a lookout over Mammoth Mountain.
You can opt to descend through the forest back toward Lake Mary Road to make a loop out of the trail.
