The gazebo likely once had a great panoramic view of the Blue Ridge Mountains, but the dense underbrush has since grown into the gap.
The sparsely spaced trees on this hike are a nice relief from the claustrophobic effects of dense rhododendron growth that is common on other trails in the region.
The trails are well maintained with moderate pitches.
