The Ecuadorian Andes are filled with rich farmland and are scattered with little homes and villages that make a modest living tending to these farms. Hikers are welcome but be respectful of their land, crops, and animals.
The dreaded spiked aloe plants with the lovely summit of Loma Cochapamba in the the background. Once you get past the aloe, the way to the top is clear.
Be mindful of the bulls that roam Loma Cochapamba. Do not hesitate to turn back if you see one in your path, especially one alone. They are aggressive and won’t hesitate to gore you.
To finish the return hike a slightly different way, go straight onto the faint little path spurring left from the main road. Do not follow the curve of the road itself.
Farm animals like this friendly and curious sheep are common on all trails around the loop. The sheep are usually quite willing to stand still for photos, too!
Looking down the last steep hill you must descend to return to the distantly visible Isinlivi. You only need to go down this field if you elect to take the loop end to the hike.
