Trekkers spend the first section of the trail hiking down in elevation and crossing the first of many suspension bridges.

The trail passes through village after village, nestled beneath towering mountains.

Passing enormous prayer stones and chortens.

Accommodations are often simple, with more luxurious guest houses only available lower on the trail.

Guest houses are simple, and only the main dining room is heated.

The lower Khumbu section of the trail is where trekkers will first begin to see magnificent views of the high peaks.

Day two is typically when trekkers enter through the gate of Sagarmatha National Park.

The switchbacks leading up to Namche Bazaar are notoriously difficult and will leave your legs sore!

Most altitude during this section of the trek is gained on the switchbacks up to Namche Bazaar.

Namche Bazaar is a large settlement with plenty of lodging, restaurants, cafes, and gear shops.

The trail is not just for trekkers! Make sure to move aside for donkeys and yaks.

Namche Bazaar is a bustling hub during the high seasons.
