Iron Mountain is a mountain located near Manitou Springs, Colorado. A common way to reach the peak of Iron Mountain is by using the Intemann Trail. This hike is 2.7 miles long and gains 600 feet of elevation.

This hike starts from the Intemann Trailhead off of Crystal Park Rd. There are two small pullouts on the side of the road. There are no amenities at the trailhead. Begin hiking northwest on the Intemann Trail. You will be hiking uphill. After 0.1 miles, cross over a creek and continue uphill. The trail switchbacks up the side of a hill for 0.2 more miles before beginning to flatten out. 

Here, the trail heads west. You will begin to have views of the Garden of the Gods. Continue on the trail for 0.3 more miles. The trail turns southwest here and you will have your first view of the top of Iron Mountain. Continue hiking on mostly flat terrain. After 0.5 miles, the trail heads north and merges with Oak Ridge Road. Hike uphill for 0.2 miles before turning east. Another 0.1 miles will bring you to the top of Iron Mountain. 

From the summit, you will have great views in every direction. On a clear day, you will see Pikes Peak to the west. Garden of the Gods is visible to the northeast, and the city of Colorado Springs can be seen to the east. Once you have taken enough time to rest, turn around and retrace your steps to return to the trailhead.

The Intemann Trail is open year round. There are no associated fees to hike here. Dogs are allowed on this trail but they must be on a leash. Hiking Iron Mountain vis Intemann Trail is a great hike for those looking to enjoy panoramic views.
