Edna Mae Bennet Nature Trail, Templeton, and Mesa Trail Loop is a short hike located in Palmer Park near Colorado Springs. This hike explores a portion of the western half of Palmer Park. This loop is 3 miles long and gains 429 feet of elevation.
This hike starts from the North Canyon Trailhead. There are restrooms available at the trailhead. Begin hiking on North Cañon Trail. You will be hiking uphill. After 0.4 miles, you will come to a junction and go left onto Edna Mae Bennet Nature Trail. The trail gets a bit steeper here as you switch back up a slope. Another 0.3 miles down the trail, you will come to a junction and go left onto Templeton Trail. The trail heads downhill here. As you are hiking, you will have great views of rock formations and Pikes Peak. Many other Front Range Peaks will also be visible. You will arrive at another junction after 0.3 miles. go right to stay on Templeton Trail.
Continue on Templeton Trail for 0.5 miles before encountering 3 consecutive junctions. Go right at all 3. You will now be hiking on Yucca Trail for 0.3 miles. Then, you will encounter 2 junctions. Go left at the first and right at the second. 0.2 miles later, you will come to 2 junctions and go left at both. You will now be hiking on Edna Mae Bennet Nature Trail. After 0.4 miles, you will encounter 2 more junctions. Go right at both. You will now hike downhill and follow Edna Mae Bennet Nature Trail to the trailhead.
Palmer Park is open 5am-9pm year round. There are no associated fees to hike here. Dogs are allowed on this trail as long as they are on a leash. This trail is also popular with mountain bikers. The Edna Mae Bennet Nature Trail, Templeton, and Mesa Trail Loop is a great way to explore Palmer Park.
